Browse through several agencies until you find one that you feel comfortable with, and that you could contact easily if you become uneasy about anything.


Gifts and money

• Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person –if you do want to pay for her to travel to meet you, send tickets (that will give you a refund if they are not used).

• Never send gifts through the mail. They often arrive with different packing, with items that have gone missing. It takes up to 10 days even for a local delivery. Even if parcels do reach their destination, the recipient will have to pay duty at about 50% of the declared value.

• Use a local delivery agent, ensuring that they accept credit cards as the credit card company will give support in case of a dispute. (Western Union is not to be recommended, as there is no recourse)

• Always use a US or European-based company that keeps all credit data in the West. It is not safe to allow your credit data to go through a credit clearing house in Russia.


• Credit cards are not generally used. 99.9% of Russians use cash only after having had the experiences of seeing their bank accounts decrease dramatically in a few days on several occasions.


Letter writing tips

• Don’t use slang which could easily be misconstrued in translation.
• Be positive and enthusiastic about yourself, and your interest in her.
• Don’t talk about Russian problems


A reply will take time


It could take up to 4 months for you to receive a letter A letter by regular mail will take between 4 to 8 weeks to be delivered.

E-mail seems the obvious answer, but few Russians own a computer, and access to the internet is an expensive luxury. Covering the cost of the reply is a great help.


The scenario is often as follows:

• An e-mail is written to the woman via the agency.
• The agency checks your account
• The e-mail is forwarded to the local agency in Russia.
• It is translated
• The woman is notified by phone or mail and the e-mail is either sent by mail or personally collected.
• Then the whole process is reversed.



It could take some time, between 3 to 7 days if everything is working efficiently.


If you live in USA, Canada, Australia :-
To marry a Russian woman you will have to have a deal with the immigration service in your country. The necessary requirement is that you have met each other in person before you apply for a visa for your fiancee. To obtain another type of visa for a single woman is virtually impossible. (Europe and other countries do grant visitor's visas to single Russian girls).
